Types of Students At DFI

all second year students and above are considered postgraduate. First years students who are not interning, and are taking all courses while receiving both group and individual supervision are considered post-graduates. All post-graduate clinical work counts towards the DFI clinical requirement. If you have completed your Master’s degree, all post graduate clinical work counts towards your LMFT (and any other license you may be pursuing cocurrently).

Interns at DFI are taking all classes and are involved in both individual and group supervision with DFI. Interns are completing their Master’s degree internship requirements at the DFI clinic. Interns provide a minimum of 20 hours of administrative work per week to support the operations of DFI’s clinic, training program, and workshops/conferences. All intern clinical work counts towards the DFI clinical requirement.

NEW!!! PreGrad Student

This experience allows students to join our two-year certificate program while they are finishing up their last year of their masters program. Pre-graduates are able to complete their needed internship requirements for their masters at our community clinic while also being enrolled in our two-year certificate program specializing in marriage and family therapy. Pre-graduates will get the flexibility of determining their own weekly schedule of client sessions, attend weekly experiential therapy training classes, receive both individual and group supervision, and upon graduation from the DFI program, will hold a specialized certificate in couples and family therapy! The beauty of this unique student experience of being a pregrad is that it allows students to complete their internship requirements at their masters program while also starting the DFI training program sooner!
Tuition for Pregrads is the same as Post Grads and there will not be an internship scholarship provided
