A groundbreaking program that helps mental health clinicians move towards queer-affirming systemic practices, offering a deeper approach to care that centers queer experience while honoring everyone in the system.
DFI is dedicated to training our students and clinicians to become skilled and compassionate family & intimate relationship therapists. We have committed our work to possess a social-justice lens, acknowledging that many systems, including therapy, have been constructed and taught without the input of women & minorities, including queer people.
To fill in this gap, we have launched the Systemic Provider Training for Queer Youth Clients (SPTQYC), the first program of its kind to expand beyond existing best practices.
SPECIAL NOTE: This program was supported by many, but was truly conceptualized by DFI’s Program Director, August Tougisnant-Stanton, LCSW, LMFT (they / them). All of us at DFI are so proud of you for bringing this into the world, Auggie!
